Ryan Murphy lead off the race for the United States with a new world record of 51.85 in the men's 100LCM backstroke. Up next Adam Peaty of Great Britain closed the gap built by the United States with a split of 56.59 in the 100LCM breaststroke, making it the fastest in history by over a full second. Following the breaststroke leg came Michael Phelps in the final swim of his olympic career. Finally, Nathan Adrian dove in the water for the United States and...the full race video can be seen below.

Adam Peaty has quickly placed his name on the ballot for "The Greatest Breaststroker of All Time." Although Peaty isn't as strong as others in the 200m distance of the stroke, his unbelievable dominance in the 100 distance is impossible to ignore. Peaty broke the 100m breaststroke world record twice at the Rio Games, capped by his final swim of 57.13 to win his first Olympic gold on Aug. 7.
