With USA Swimming's membership growing rapidly and meet warmup pools filling to the brim -- literally -- the need for more championship-level meets arose across the country. Thus, in 2015 the United States national governing body introduced a new set of meets to its championship series. The Futures Championships take place across four different regions -- Western, Central, Southeastern, and Northeastern -- and prove to be a springboard between the Sectionals Championships and Junior National Championships.

On the West Coast, the 2017 Futures Championships will be held in Santa Clara, California, at the famed George F. Haines International Aquatic Center. Last year's WestCcoast combined team champion -- Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics -- will again look bring a squad capable of another title.

On the women's side, the Mission Viejo Nadadores won't be with star swimmer Katie McLaughlin -- as the Stanford swimmer has moved on from the club ranks and will be preparing to represent Team USA at World University Games -- but they will likely have their big guns in Ella Ristic,  Samantha Shelton, and Jessica EppsIf these three ladies are at the meet, Mission Viejo will be the undisputed favorite to take home the women's crown again.

On the men's side, PASA is tough to beat led by star swimmers Alex Liang -- a 2017 Stanford commit and extremely versatile ace -- along with Maximilian Pokutta -- a 2017 Brown University commit. The team will lose major points from Stanford freshman Benjamin Ho and Arizona State freshman Joe Molinari but has enough depth to contend for another title.

We are still waiting on an official psych sheet to be released and will post it as soon as that happens.
