Whether you agree with it or not, the college recruiting process is changing, and it is affecting teams, coaches, families, and prospective student-athletes in a significant way.

The biggest change? College coaches used to be unable to contact recruits until July 1 prior to their senior year. Now, coaches can contact recruits Sept. 1 of their junior year — an entire 10 months earlier.

This rule change is causing a ripple effect and swimmers are starting to commit sooner and sooner. But is this a good thing? How is it impacting the associated parties?

University of Arizona head coach Augie Busch shares his thoughts on the changes and gives advice to swimmers and parents on how to manage certain aspects of the recruiting process.
