Zane Grothe TORCHES 4:07.25 500 Free, Obliterates American Record
Badger Swim Club swimmer Zane Grothe broke the American Record in the 500-yard freestyle at the USA Swimming Winter Nationals in 4:07.25.
WOAH. Wait, what? The American record in the 500-yard freestyle has been sitting at 4:08 since Tom Dolan went 4:08.75 at the 1995 NCAA Championships. It has since been lowered a few tenths here and there by the likes of Peter Vanderkaay and Clark Smith.
But Zane Grothe just took it to another level, obliterating the record with a time of 4:07.25 at the USA Swimming Winter Nationals in Columbus, Ohio, on Thursday. Check out the details below.
