LIVE RESULTS
Women 200 Medley Relay
COMPLETE RESULTS
- University of Louisville (A) — 1:36.86
- University of Louisville (B) — 1:37.95
- Ohio State University (A) — 1:38.28
Even without Mallory Comerford anchoring this relay, Louisville picked up a big win and an NCAA "A" cut by 0.03 of a second thanks in large part to a monster 21.45 anchor split from Casey Fanz. For all intents and purposes, the Cardinals put together two identical relays. Both backstrokers split 24, both breaststrokers 27, both fliers 23, and both freestylers 21. Impressive. An Ohio State squad that doesn't have star sprinter Liz Li this semester rounded out the podium for bronze.
Men 200 Medley Relay
COMPLETE RESULTS
- California Aquatics (A) — 1:24.58
- University of Louisville (A) — 1:25.79
- Ohio State University (A) — 1:26.03
With an entire postgrad relay featuring Ryan Murphy, Josh Prenot, Jacob Pebley, and Nathan Adrian, the Bears took home the title in 1:24.58. Certainly the strongest split here came from Murphy's 20.88 backstroke leadoff. Prenot was 23.99, Pebley — in a rare butterfly appearance — was 20.93, and Adrian was 18.78 on the end. Louisville picked up the silver thanks to a big 23.45 breaststroke split from Carlos Claverie, and Ohio State rounded out the podium.
Women 800 Freestyle Relay
COMPLETE RESULTS
- University of Louisville (A) — 6:58.41
- Ohio State University (A) — 7:07.31
- University of Louisville (B) — 7:10.35
Thanks to Mallory Comerford's 1:41.67 split on the second leg, this one was a runaway for the Cardinals — demolishing the NCAA "A" cut by five seconds. Comerford split the race well in 23.6/25.7/25.9/26.3. It's not uncommon in an 800 free relay to see a little more speed on the front end, but for the most part she held on well. If she can replicate that time in the individual event, she will set herself up well for NCAAs. Ohio State picked up the silver and the UofL B team rounded out the podium for bronze.
Men 800 Freestyle Relay
COMPLETE RESULTS
- University of Louisville (A) — 6:22.02
- Ohio State University (A) — 6:23.74
- University of Louisville (B) — 6:26.36
Consistency is key for the Cardinals. All four guys — Andrej Barna, Nick Albiero, Sam Steele, and Zach Harting split 1:35s to take the win here. They were each about a half second split from the NCAA "A" cut of 6:20.05, but they should have no problem picking that up at ACCs — especially since they had a 1:34 from distance ace Marcelo Acosta on their B relay. Ohio State, also consistent in its splits, picked up the silver, and the UofL B team took the bronze.
Thursday prelims kick off at 9 AM EST and feature the 500 freestyle, 200 IM, and 50 freestyle.
