Between the light show, DJ, acrobatic dance routine, saxophonist, and fish mascot -- day one of the 2017 Energy for Swim in Rome, Italy Tuesday had it all. The session was more like Cirque du Soleil meets concert meets swim meet. Which was exactly the purpose of Energy Standard's brainchild. The event started at 9:00 PM local time in Rome -- primetime -- and featured a short lineup of races with one heat of each event in a team-style format of two swimmers per team in each heat. This, along with the entertainment prior to the session and in between heats, provided for a very exciting night at the Foro Italico.
But, what did the swimmers have to say about it all? Hear it from them below.
Ryan Murphy (USA)
Chase Kalisz (USA)
