OUTSIDE SMOKE! Zane Grothe breaks away from the pack to secure the national championship and punch his ticket to Budapest in a blistering 3:44.43. Behind Grothe was a battle for the silver between teammates and training partners...Smith and Haas. In the end Clark Smith touched a half of a second ahead of his teammate to secure the second spot on the Team USA roster and will head to Worlds with Grothe.

She's done it again...Lilly King sweeps the breaststroke events showing she can swim any distance of the stroke at a national champion level and is headed to Budapest in all three. Her time of 1:04.95 was good for a championship record, but also good to note was Katie Meili and her 1:05.51 right on King's heels. The pair of King and Meili will head to Budapest to take on Yulia Efimova as the King vs Efimova rivalry will continue.

Kevin Cordes follows Lilly King's lead and completes the breaststroke sweep with a massive 58.74 100 breaststroke victory. Right behind him was the ex-american record holder Cody Miller who touched in 59.11 who will join Cordes in Budapest to take on sprint breaststroke sensation Adam Peaty.

Kathleen Baker takes it out at the 50 under world record pace and then brings it home to touch in 58.57 and a new US Open record! Just a bit behind her also qualifying for Budapest was Olivia Smoliga in 59.17. Five swimmers in the heat dip below the 1:00 mark in a very very deep event for the United States.
